The end result is continuous flow for the trades and an integrated system to track percent complete.  Vico Office LBS Manager lets users define a location structure, consisting of any combination of floors and zones, in their project. Locations are used to perform location-based quantity takeoff with Takeoff Manager, which can then be used as input for location-based cost and schedule planning with Cost Planner and Schedule Planner.

 

4D: Vico Scheduling Solutions for Planning AND Controlling the Project Schedule

This webinar focuses on three essential components for good scheduling: flowline theory, on-site production control, and communication with the Subs. We start by creating an uninterrupted work flow for trades with Vico Schedule Planner  - a scientific derivation of the BIM model geometry for quantities, combined with locations and crew productivity rates. Next, we head out to the jobsite where the Super measures work put-in-place by location with Vico Production Controller. By comparing actuals to planned helps identify potential problems and conflicts far in advance. Now with the aid of Vico 4D Manager the team can work together to solve the scheduling conflict and avoid cascading delays.

  

5D: Model-Based Estimating Fundamentals

This course offers a thorough review of 5D BIM, including quantity takeoff, cost planning, estimating, and budgeting, all from a BIM model.

 

We examine the changes need to be made to estimating processes when a BIM model is introduced to the project: 

•  You’re going to want to access historic project data so your model has relevant material and labor costing per project type and geography;

•  You’re going to want to organize and evaluate Subs based on their productivity rates on past projects of similar scope;

•  You’re going to want to see the BIM model color-coded according to your estimate so that you know that no scope or trade has been accidentally omitted;

•  You’re going to want to maintain, then compare and update versions of your estimate as soon as you receive new details – this will help you identify scope creep and/or out-of-budget choices.

•  You will benefit from a visual connection between model, quantity, estimate and price changes – this will help you explain the evolution of the cost plan to your Owner and others connected to the project.

3D-4D-5D: The New Preconstruction

We are proposing a new solution for the typical preconstruction challenges: one that gets subs on board early, one that involves the estimating and scheduling teams from the get-go; and one that includes clash detection, but with an interesting new twist: an integrated workflow for coordination by location which includes coordinated quantity counts for the schedulers and estimators. Using Vico’s approach, not only do we work to the goal of zero change orders due to coordination issues, but we also have a coordinated whole model for use downstream for scheduling and estimating, installation, production control, and even facilities management.

 

3D-4D-5D-Field: The Vico Office Virtual Construction Workflow

There’s only one way to tie it all together: Vico Office. The 5D Virtual Construction Workflow starts with a constructability analysis, location breakdown structure, construction-caliber quantities by location, an evolving cost plan and budget, mapping tasks and resources to the model elements, creating task dependencies, and finally using the schedule as a communications vehicle. The result is a cost- and resource-loaded schedule.  Once on-site, production control keeps the schedule on track with forecasted warnings.
