Vico Layout Manager
Layout and validate critical points in an integrated 5D BIM workflow
We already know how the preconstruction teams work with Vico Office to do 3D coordination, 4D schedules, and 5D estimates. We already know how Superintendents use Vico Office to manage to the schedule out on the jobsite with production control. Now we take it a step further: PEs can plot out the critical points for the project in any of the activated models in Vico Office and transfer that data out to the Trimble gear onsite. That’s right: BIM to the Field for more precise measurements and better quality control.
We call the process Design-to-Build/Build-to-Design. But layout teams just say, “Let’s Trimble it!” The workflow is very straightforward. Using any activated model in the Vico Office project, the PE or Superintendent can create a specific location system for the layout team and then mark all the critical points directly in the model. The points can be imported into a *.csv file and uploaded to Trimble layout gear. Whether GCs self-perform the layout task or have a special Sub do the work, you know the set up and speed of the process. And after the work has been completed, the GC or Sub can capture the actuals from the site and compare these points to the originals to check discrepancies.
So “let’s Trimble” all the critical points per location for
- • Sleeves and openings before concrete is poured
- • Deck elevations before pipes are installed
- • Organic curved walls before the framing starts
- • Hangers and bracings for seismic requirements
- • Pipe runs
- • Slab edges
And then we can even deliver an As Built model to the Owner incorporating the points from the field.
