Vico Office Available Today

Full Support for 4D and 5D BIM for Revit, Tekla, and ArchiCAD

Boulder, CO - April 30, 2009 - Vico Software, the pioneer in 5D BIM for Construction, is pleased to announce the general availability of Vico Office, its newest solution for integrated construction management designed specifically for builders and owners.  Vico Office offers a BIM-neutral environment where Revit, Tekla, and ArchiCAD files can be used in constructability analysis, coordination, 4D scheduling, and 5D cost planning.

"The true value of BIM for a construction company is being able to leverage the information in a BIM model throughout the organization," stated Ed Hoagland, Construction Modeling Manager at PCL.  "Vico Office is a solution that can help us extend our BIM models across our operations without everyone becoming a model expert."

"Vico Office represents the next generation of 5D BIM," stated Mark Sawyer, President and CEO at Vico Software.  "By broadening our compatibility with multiple 3D BIM applications, we are delivering on the market's most urgent requirement.  Our customers see alternate delivery systems and more collaborative project teams on the rise, so for us to help them remain productive and competitive we must drive a BIM-neutral approach.  Vico Office does just that."

Vico Office offers an intuitive user interface and extreme scalability suitable for large project datasets.  Application modules aimed at each user's discipline-specific requirements allow customers to configure a solution to meet their unique needs.  Vico Office software is available as single-user licenses or multi-user licenses managed from a central license pool.

"The first step in making 3D models useful in construction is a detailed and accurate quantity takeoff," cites Clay Freeman, Chief Product Officer at Vico.  "Our customers often self-perform important work, so a rudimentary quantity takeoff tool simply will not suffice.  Vico Office gives them highly granular, construction-caliber quantities and a very flexible way to then derive costs and task durations.  And since cost plans and schedules are derived from model-based quantities, it's easy to keep up with frequent changes - not just in preconstruction planning, but throughout the build phase as well."

Takeoff Manager is the first module available within Vico Office and is shipping today.  Additional modules will follow as will support for even more BIM file formats.
